There’s a strange sort of calm during January… You can feel it when you hear the clinking of New Years’ empty Moët bottles being removed; You can feel it when you see the twinkling of Christmas tree lights vanishing from windows; You can feel it as you position your shiny new 2015 calender on your bedroom wall. This feeling can be disguised by a mask of sadness at first, but unveils itself as an aura of acceptance when a glowing new chapter is embraced.
There are numerous pages in this chapter, but there is one which is sometimes swept underneath a floor rug: The flashing advertisements of Winter Sales which radiate from computer screens. For myself in particular, this is a page that I can’t resist tearing out and folding into my back pocket.
This blog post is the first of a two-part fashion series, each of which is focused on ensembles that you can purchase from the Winter Sales. If you’re the kind of person that can’t resist a bargain (rather like myself) then this series should be right up your street!
The novelty cross-body ‘clock’ bag was the inspiration for this outfit. It reminded of the bouncing white rabbit from Lewis Carroll’s Alice In Wonderland, swinging his pocket watch by his side while Alice follows him in perverse curiosity. Therefore it seemed fitting to shoot these photos in Botanic Gardens, Belfast, in order to fully capture the theme of an adventurous Alice chasing after the rabbit, before she tumbles down the rabbit hole.
I decided to use the colour-trio of this clock throughout my entire ensemble: Black and white – with fine flickers of gold. All of the items which you see here can be found on ASOS, quite possibly my favourite online outlet for fashion.
I’ll be back very soon with Part 2!
